For the 30th anniversary of Hypo Tirol Bank, a special art-in-architecture project was realized in Vienna: the floating installation “Floating Orbit” by internationally renowned artist Eva Schlegel.
The work explores notions of lightness, suspension, and transparency. Within the new branch building near the Capuchin Crypt in Vienna’s First District, the installation unfolds as a poetic, spatial intervention that merges architecture, art, and spatial perception into a seamless experience.
Atelier Fröhlich supported the artist Eva Schlegel throughout the development and execution of the project. In addition to the architectural realization of the new branch, the studio was responsible for the technical implementation and structural consulting of the installation. This ensured that the fragile, weightless appearance of “Floating Orbit” could be maintained in architectural reality.
The installation creates a dialogue between art and architecture that goes far beyond decorative addition. “Floating Orbit” defines the central area of the branch and invites visitors to experience the space from a new, atmospheric perspective.
